Mr. Cody has represented numerous individuals and governments in matters involving reapportionment and the Voting Rights Act. He was lead counsel in Meek v. Metropolitan Dade County, a case which imposed single member districts on the Miami Dade County Commission. He was also lead counsel in Suarez v. Dade County School Board which resulted in the adoption of a 9 member single-member district plan. He has also represented numerous clients in federal and state court, up to the level of the United States Supreme Court in areas concerning the Voting Rights Act, commercial litigation, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the First Amendment. He has also been involved in bid protests at both the State and County level.
Mr. Cody was associate counsel to the Florida House Committee on Reapportionment and one of the trial counsel to the Florida House of Representatives successful defense of the State’s Congressional and Legislative reapportionment plans.
Mr. Cody has published a novel, Lying in State (Writer’s Digest Press 2000), as well as numerous articles on legal and technical matters.
